Everybody is different when it comes to how they respond to essential oils. You really have to try different oils and see which one works best for you. Try diffusing an oil using an aromatherapy diffuser or you can apply the oil topically (diluted with a carrier oil) on your stomach and neck for best absorption. It may be easier to start off with an essential oil sleep blend or you can try a single oil. Some oils have a calming effect, some can help you feel drowsy, and others promote deep sleep.
Here is a list of essential oils that help aid in restful sleep:
- Lavender
- Roman Chamomile
- Angelica
- Ylang Ylang
- Neroli
- Valerian
- Juniper Berry
- Bergamot
- Cumin
Essential Oil Sleep Blends:
- Good Night Essential Oil Blend – a personal favorite for calming before bed.
- Sleep Ease Essential Oil Blend
What works for me:
I personally recommend trying Cedarwood essential oil to achieve deep sleep. Before trying this oil I would wake up a few times in the middle of the night and sometimes it would be difficult to get back to sleep but since trying cedarwood essential oil I stay asleep longer and sometimes stay asleep the whole night!
